Who we write for
Diabesity Rounds is written for registered medical practitioners. Reports summarise published research. They are not advice for individual patients, and they never give doses or tell anyone to start or stop a medicine.
Where the research comes from
We follow new papers in leading general medical, diabetes, obesity, cardiology, kidney and liver journals and in Indian journals, as they are indexed on PubMed; trial results posted on ClinicalTrials.gov; and notices from the US Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines Agency. We do not report from press releases alone.
How stories are chosen
Each morning the new research is ranked for its value to a practising doctor in India. Randomised trials, meta-analyses, guidelines, regulatory decisions, outcome studies and studies in Indian or South Asian people come first. Animal studies, small pilots and protocols without results are left out.
How every report is checked
Reports are written from the source itself. Before publication, each report goes through an independent claim-by-claim check against the source, and every number in it must match a number in the source. A report that does not pass is held back and is not published.
Each report says what kind of study it is and how much weight the evidence can carry: whether it shows cause or only association, whether the outcomes are clinical or surrogate, and what the source says about its limits.
The India box
Indian prices, approvals and availability come only from a reference list we verify and date. The box shows when the facts were last checked. If we have no verified Indian facts for a drug or device, there is no box.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we correct it openly. A note at the top of the report says what changed and when, the report shows its updated date, and every correction is listed on the corrections page. The editor receives every day's reports and can correct or withdraw any of them. To report an error, write to editor@diabesityrounds.com.
Independence
Diabesity Rounds carries no advertising and accepts no sponsorship. No company sees a report before it is published. The editor's own interests are listed on the disclosures page.
Versions for patients
Plain-language versions of selected reports are published for patients on caspianhealthcare.in, after review by the editor.
